Jamaica + A Wedding Paradise + Katie & ADAM

Thursday I woke up on an island....paradise. The mountains framed the turquoise Caribbean sea as the rain fell. Of course the rain was followed by a rainbow. Just before the rehearsal I realized, rain or shine, this place isssssss heaven. I shoot in the Caribbean often but I must say that Jamaica has a special place in my soul.
Working with Katie & Adam was like a dream. Their personalities are amongst the most outgoing which made this destination paradise perfect for them to get married. It took me about five minutes after meeting them in person there at the Iberostar lobby over a glass of wine to think; there really is no better job in the world that possesses great individuals who are madly in love, that have invited me, an artist into their lives to capture the laughter, smiles and stories so such a personal level.  But then again, they are from St. Louis! So there you go....cheers to an amazing couple. The sweetest. I want to say a special thank you to all of their friends and family who showed me endless kindness, love and some killer dance moves. I feel so lucky to have been there with you all to celebrate!

Dominican Republic + Love....Becky & David

At times love seems so easy. A wedding in the Dominican Republic overlooking the Caribbean Sea looks just like a dream. But the truth is, love is not a thing, its' a feeling no matter where it is celebrated...like Hemmingway wrote, "[Love] the feeling that we had come home, feeling no longer alone."..."We could feel alone when we were together, alone against the others. We were never lonely and never afraid when we were together."

Right before you walk down the  aisle, or go on your first date and realize in your heart that you've fallen in love....you feel an overwhelming feeling in your soul! It's hard to say what it is...These are emotions you've never felt, or can even dissect at that powerful moment.

On Sunday Becky's feet hit the sand as her guests rose from their seats and her best friend stood 100 yards in front of her.....A surreal moment!
This couple is E-Xtra-ordinary!!! Becky & David decided to get married in the Dominican Republic. Their passion for work and traveling have taken them on adventures around the world. Therefore, when they got engaged those experiences left them with a pallet of options to get married.
80 of their closest friends + family flew to Punta Cana for their weekend wedding at the Paradisus Palm Real! What a resort!

I will say that this couple will forever have such a special place in my heart. Dorian and I felt so welcome at their celebrations they planned throughout the weekend. Their free spirit and appreciation for art, friends and traveling made us feel so thrilled to be there for them. I was honored! Becky's cousin Katie flew from Minnesota to give the sermon for them. She read the most heartfelt letter I've ever heard written by Becky's brother, Al. Along with a passage from Hemingway, the Dalai Lama and other written scriptures that praised the celebration of life, partnership and friendship they have found in each other. Cheers to Becky and David. You deserve the world! Enjoy these few photos! I can't wait to share the rest of the photographs.

[Here is the poem in its entirety by Hemingway that was read at the ceremony.

"At night, there was the feeling that we had come home, feeling no longer alone, waking in the night to find the other one there, and not gone away; all other things were unreal. We slept when we were tired and if we woke the other one woke too so one was not alone. Often a man wishes to be alone and a woman wishes to be alone too and if they love each other they are jealous of that in each other, but I can truly say we never felt that. We could feel alone when we were together, alone against the others. We were never lonely and never afraid when we were together.”
